Coral matchmaking - episode one

Spawning in the City

Lenses, lights and lunar cycles help corals find their perfect match, for the future of the reef

Coral reefs are the ocean’s most biodiverse ecosystem; its lifeblood. They support our food chain and the air we breathe. But, they’re also incredibly vulnerable. Rising temperatures, overfishing and coastal development are just a few of the factors causing corals immense stress. What they need now is new solutions.

Here, Coral Spawning International’s Dr Jamie Craggs introduces a fresh approach – acting as a matchmaker for coral, with a little help from Canon’s technology to help him see, document and partner species to help restore our reefs.
